Standards in bike industry often need a few years to become established over existing systems. The ISCG 03 standard was the measuring stick for many years. Most manufacturers now use the ISCG 05 standard which has a larger 73mm diameter opening than other standards.
The fitting is necessary especially for longer travel bikes as it allow fitting of both chain guides and 2 speed planetary cranks systems such as the HAMMERSCHMIDT from SRAM.
NOTE: before you buy a chainguide system make sure that it is compatible by contacting your dealer or us. Not every system is compatible or recommended for every type of use.
